What I have learnt H/W for Harry

WHAT I HAVE LEARNT SO FAR!!

So far in media I have learnt about the 10 different media skills for example: Planning(production schedule), writing (journalism, script writing), the three types of production (pre-production, production, post production),Presentations, ideas development, graphics (photoshop etc), marketing   (target audience, genre), and contingency (back up plan). I have also learnt about the different media industries and their forms and texts for example: film, music, animation, audio (radio and podcast), websites, TV, video games (which involve escapism) aimed at 7 to 35 year olds, press (newspaper,  books, magazines). I also learnt about iconography and how the iconography of a horror film would usually be blood, thunder, high/low pitched tension building music. I have learnt the difference between cross over genres and sub genres as a cross over genre is when you have a film genre mixed with a game, TV etc for example an action TV programme, Action film, action video game. A sub genre is when a film genre is mixed with another genre for example a rom com, action com. In lesson I have learnt what intertextuality (gratification) is as it is a parody. An example of intertextuality would be in ready player one when it has scenes referring to Chucky, the shining, and back to the future. I have learnt about what a hybrid/synergy (post modernism) is as its mixing products together to create something better. 

Have now learnt the different key concepts for a music video.I  understand ways a music video can give an audience gratification  by the audience understanding the lyrics, being able to relate to the characters or narrative, have use of intertextuality(music videos to songs from films or have a dance routine), have a music track, use of ideology (fashion and life style, product placement). The use of innovative ideas, Technical aspects (sound effects), use of visceral experience (so a physical reaction e.g. goose bumps), and finally escapism (going into your own reality). I now have an understanding of the purpose of a music video for example three purposes would be promotional, artist, record label, genre, indirect -lifestyle 'way of living'. I now know who the big six are now Warner music group, EMI, Sony music, BMG, Universal music group, and poly gram.

In class I have learnt about the different types of research forms i.e. primary and secondary.
Primary research is observations, surveys, interviews etc. secondary research is reports, established research.

Recently focusing on music videos I have learnt about different types of music genres i.e. different types of pop music: Brit pop, Bubble gum pop, dance pop, electro pop, pop rock etc. I have also learnt about MESC.FX (Miss En Scene, Editing, Sound, Camera, special effects)and how you can link it to different music videos. In music videos there are different types of codes and conventions of pop music videos: you always see the artist, dancing/background dancers, lighting, flashy vehicles, fashion items, and lip syncing. I have learnt all about different types of stereotypes between men and women and how men are usually represented as strong, powerful, and wealthy once women are represented as sexualised so both genders representation is usually reinforced but women are now starting to go against their representation and subverting the typical stereotypes towards then. women in music and all other types of media are being sexualised for the male gaze but now more and more people are going against that representation and are trying to change that. In media there is all types of representation especially positive and negative. The media make people look or sound bad for example the media (mainly newspapers) give Donald Trump a bad name and make him look like a bad person.
